- Carly Russel – Certified Yoga instructor and Physiotherapy Assistant Carly is a Physiotherapy Assistant, 200 Hatha YTT, and certified Restorative Yoga and Pain Care Yoga instructor. Carly’s interest the mechanics of the body and physiotherapy began early on as a competitive Irish Dancer. After 15 years of competition and time on tour Carly hung up her dancing shoes to focus on school. In 2006, she received a Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma in Edmonton. Later she returned to school in Australia to gain a deeper understanding of the practice of physiotherapy as well as the inner workings of the body through anatomy, physiology, and yoga courses. In 2010, upon returning to Canada completed a 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training and began weaving the knowledge of the body along with the ancient practice of Hatha Yoga to create a rehabilitative style of instruction. More recently, Carly completed 20 hours of Trauma -Sensitive Yoga training. Providing a Trauma informed lens to complex trauma and PTSD patients, this training is allowing Carly to care for patients with chronic pain through a model of Yoga and breathing techniques. Carly’s goal is make yoga accessible to everyone regardless of injury, condition, age, strength, flexibility, or background. Carly has been fortunate enough to have experience working with the Cerebral Palsy Association of Alberta, summer programs with the Paralympics Association as well as individuals and groups with Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, fractures, back trauma and pain, low blood pressure, migraines, and chronic pain.Back to Top
- Jessica Fuhr – Athletic TherapistJessica completed her Bachelor degree in Athletic Therapy in 2012 at Comosun College in Victoria BC. After graduation she worked with soccer and rugby teams in rehabilitation and injury prevention before taking a position at Burrard Physiotherapy in 2015. Since her arrival here, Jessica has been working with clients to restore function using her skills in exercise therapy, manual therapy and theraputic modalities. She is also in charge of our Surehire testing facility.
- Noam Gagnon – Pilates Teacher In 1993, Noam Gagnon co-founded The Holy Body Tattoo, a multimedia dance company that has captured both critical acclaim and the attention of national and international audiences. He has performed in over 17 countries, and taught professional and university master classes in Canada, the US, Europe and Asia. Noam founded 2004 his own performance company Co.Vision Selective., to create new dance presentations. In addition to his own work, Noam continues to perform and choreograph with some of the world’s most preeminent dance artists and companies Noam graduated with a baccalaureate in Choreography and Dance from Concordia University in Montreal in 1987. That same year he also began studying the Pilates Method.Back to Top
- Jacqueline Lewis – Pilates Instructor As a former bodybuilder, triathlon athlete and fierce competitor, Jacqueline Lewis has placed as high as 5th in the world in Ironman before discovering Pilates. In 2001 after 29 Ironman competitions, a popliteus and meniscus injury in the knee halted her training. Jacqueline not only rehabilitated her injury by practicing Pilates but also, found body awareness and inner strength. Through Pilates, she avoided surgery and improved her performance with a less rigorous regime. Through Pilates, she recovered in only 6 months from an injury that doctors predict would take a year. And through Pilates, Jacqueline discovered her own innate ability to heal.Since then, she has been sharing this powerful gift with clients from all walks of life; from career moms to retired seniors, from office workers to professional athletes, Jacqueline brings patience and diligence to each Pilates session. She guides her clients through a method that demands precision and control. She steers them to achieve their own movement potential. And as a result, after each session her clients feel aligned, in-shape and alive.As Jacqueline continues to deepen her understanding of classical Pilates, she sought to learn only from the world’s bests. After attaining her first teacher certification from STOTT Pilates in 2003 and operating her own Pilates studio in Ladysmith, she moved to Vancouver in 2008 to train under the great, Noam Gagnon. And most recently, Jacqueline has been accepted into a prestigious master training program in Los Angeles, where she will study under Jay Grimes. He is one of only three remaining Pilates elders in the world who trained with Joseph Pilates himself.Jacqueline will not only be immersed in the vigor of true Pilates but she will also impart the wisdom and depth of the classical method.
